Two great tastes that taste great together: Sherlock Holmes and Cthulhu (Wired). The article mentions Shadows over Baker Street, a compilation of stories about Doyle's chocolate falling into Lovecraft's peanut butter; if the Neil Gaiman offering, which i read in Fragile Things, is indicative of the general quality, this should be a fun way to spend a day or two over the holiday break.
there's something about the wintertime that makes me want to curl up on the couch under one of my mom's afghans with some historical speculative fiction, or perhaps head down to the local french cafe for a double decaf americano and a slice of apple tart while finishing the last thirty pages of the latest in my favorite modern sci fi series (which is up to i think seven or eight entries by now).
